Lufthansa selbst hat bereits bestätigt, dass man die Boeing 747-400, Airbus A340-300 und Airbus A350-600 eigentlich so schnell wie möglich aus der Flotte entfernen will, allerdings braucht man dafür erst genügend treibstoffsparende neue Boeing 787-9, Airbus A350-900 und Airbus A350-1000, sowie für den Ersatz der Boeing 747-400 wohl auch zwingend die Boeing 777-9, deren Auslieferungstermin.
